Out of myth they come,
flying on leathery wings
to their hoards of gold
Today in the A to Z Blogging Challenge, the letter of the day is D. What word, beginning with D, is something from science fiction or fantasy and is implied by today’s haiku? These creatures are my daughter’s favorite, so much so that she and her fiance have chosen them at the theme for their wedding reception! Know what I’m talking about? Let us know in the comments.
Dragon?

Nooooooooo! My streak comes to an end. Dragons have leathery wings? Who knew? Flying monkeys invaded my mind even though I kept telling my mind you can’t spell flying monkey with a D. That leather tripped me up. Time to start a new streak with E I guess.

Since they’re mythical, I suppose they could have any wings you like! But in the Western tradition, at least, their wings are bat-like. I think Asian dragons may be different.
