A Haiku #atozchallenge

~ Shot into the air ~
~ but where will it fall to earth? ~
~ The poet knows not ~

Welcome to my first post in the A to Z Blogging Challenge for 2018! I’m offering a haiku puzzle for each letter of the alphabet in April. A haiku is a tiny poem based on a Japanese model, with three unrhymed lines of 5, 7, 5 syllables. Traditionally a haiku expresses a fleeting image or feeling, often focusing on nature or seasons, but mine expresses a single word. Can you figure out today’s puzzle? What word starts with A that is suggested by the haiku? Tell us your guess in the comments, and thanks for playing!

    • Today’s word was from a little poem called “The Arrow and the Song” by Longfellow I thought everyone knew: “I shot an arrow into the air / It fell to earth, I knew not where.” It was even the inspiration for an episode of “Twilight Zone.”
I guessed wrong about how popular that poem is these days. I promise future posts will be less obscure!
